Lean Not Unto Thine Own Understanding

Its interesting how people can read the bible and understand it differently than someone else. But yet, the bible has only one interpretation. We can’t all be right. Or can we? Maybe God grants us knowledge as the level of our hearts grow toward Him. Perhaps there is a different level of knowledge for everyone and we just haven’t reached the same level. Maybe God is allowing His own to be blind on some things because they are not ready for the whole truth. The truth hurts.

John 16:14-13 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Maybe Satan is confusing your mind from seeing the truth because if you saw the truth you would know how things really are in your life and he would not gain if you had true knowledge. You might see how you follow this world rather than God.

Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

One thing we are not all at one level with is the subject of homosexuality in the bible. Its in there and its not just about male prostitution or transvestites. Its about men not behaving like men, women unbecoming women. That is an abomination to the Lord. You CAN NOT change the meaning of God’s word to justify your own actions. God is not going to change His mind just because you understand His word contrary to His meaning.

Leviticus 18:22-23 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

And if you need a New Testament Law to satisfy any “the old laws are dead” theology:

Romans 1:26-28 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

The gay community that has belief in our Lord Jesus Christ says that the bible, God’s word, doesn’t mention homosexuality as a sin. It doesn’t come right out and say smoking is a sin either, but it is. This is a sin I must overcome and I’m not about to change God’s word or understand it any differently to justify my actions.

Every sin is the same in God’s eyes. Lying, stealing, adultery, murder, ect. is just as bad as being homosexual. So, don’t think that being a heterosexual is a better person. Chances are you are just as lawless. You know its wrong but you won’t admit it because you hold onto this world that loves sinful pleasures. It reminds me of being a teenager and I knew I was doing something wrong and I knew there would be consequences but I always said if I get caught it will all be worth it. Will it all be worth it for you to lose your crown? Lose your eternal life with Christ? Lose that face to face contact with Him? Will it be worth it when He says to your face He never knew you?

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Pray with all your heart for understanding before you read God’s word. Pray like understanding is the life or death of your soul. Because it is.
