Most christians have seen the movies or read the books by Tim LaHaye. While the storyline is entertaining, it is most definitely not biblical. Sadly, many believe this is how it will actually happen. Like any other Hollywood movie, it’s a money making scheme. A remake is coming out in 2014 starring Nicolas Cage, who is one of my favorite actors, btw. 🙂 Even that won’t sucker me into believing this idea. This remake is a way to bring in the new generation to this idea about a pre-tribulation rapture. Satan works behind the scenes and motivates humans to do his will. He doesn’t want you to be “left behind”. He wants you to be “taken”.
Let’s look at the scriptures that mentions those who are taken and those “left behind”.
Matthew 24:40-42 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Jesus is speaking of the “rapture” here. You have probably been taught that since this is pertaining to the rapture and some are going to be taken, then it means that those taken are obviously those raptured away. But have you been taught accurately??
The scriptures right before these actually tell us who is taken.
Matthew 24:37-39 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Have you been told that this simply means that Noah and his family were taken away in the ark by the flood? That the ones taken were the ones saved? Did you believe it? Is so, you have been deceived.
Luke 17:26-37 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed. In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot’s wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.
The disciples wanted to know where the ones taken would be taken to. Eagles are vultures. Vultures eat the dead. The ones taken will die. Be destroyed.
Do you know who else will be taken?
Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
There will be a “rapture”, or catching up (gathering), of believers when Christ returns. We will be caught up in the air to meet Him. Scripture doesn’t say heaven.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Those “left behind” are not left behind at all. The bible doesn’t even say “one will be left behind”. It says “one will be left”. Left to reign with Christ. If you have 5 cookies and eat 3, you have 2 left. Those that are left are those that are spared. So, tell me, do you really want to be taken?
I would also like to point out that Jesus used Noah and Sodom as examples of His return. None believed the destruction was coming so, they went on with their sinful lives. But on the same day that the destruction came, God spared a few lives before He carried out His wrath and destroyed all. Not 7 years apart. It was on the same day.
Luke 17:29-30 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
Genesis 7:13-17 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark; They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort. And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh, wherein is the breath of life. And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God had commanded him: and the Lord shut him in. And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.
Both of these examples given by our Lord proves that the ones left after the destruction were saved from it in the same day just seconds before it happened. Leaving no one a moment, let alone 7 years, to repent. They had their chance, it was over. Believers will not be going to heaven. And believers will not be removed from the earth. Believers who are left, or spared, will simply be moved out of the way so God’s wrath does not destroy them. What exactly does this mean? It means the same day that Christ returns is the same day He gathers His elect AND it will be the same day that He pours out His wrath on this world and destroys it. It all happens the same day.
How important is it to you that you are not being lied to?? I hate being lied to. God is not too fond of it either. Being lied to and taught incorrectly is not going to be a good excuse come judgement day. You should study the word of God instead of following popular beliefs or trusting anyone who teaches you anything about God’s word. God’s word says every man is a liar but, don’t take my word for it.
Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
You may have been lied to about most of God’s word. Doesn’t that bother you enough to find out the truth?
Proverbs 10:30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
