Word of Advice

I have people tell me about this literary work, or that book by such and such author. There is only ONE author I trust for truth and no other. It is a bad idea to read some book outside of the King James and take it as proof of anything. All these authors are doing is presenting an idea and it is your job to make a judgement call to its truth by comparing it to God’s written word. These authors are only out to give you an idea that you agree with so strongly that you would give your money to them just to have their “knowledge”.

The last words in the bible are:

Revelation 22:18-21 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

DO NOT add to or take away. The bible is the only book you need. One of the BIGGEST mistakes EVER is adding to or taking away words of the bible. New translations are changing the wording of the bible and causing it to be more confusing to understand so, what do you do? You end up buying some other book that might “explain” the meaning a little easier. Next thing you know you believe that other author over the word of God because they made more sense. Aren’t you the least bit worried that the author of that secondary book might be wrong??

Have you noticed that religions with extra canonical books such as catholicism, mormonism, lutheranism, etc. are so contradictory to what the bible says? They have idols, call the pope “father”, only a priest can forgive your sins, you can’t go to heaven if you aren’t baptized, they perform rituals, and they flat out call the bible a liar saying their book of faith is more accurate. God’s word says to have no idols, call no man father, nobody goes to God but through Jesus, the thief on the cross next to Jesus was never baptized, and there is simplicity in Christ that needs no rituals. Why would you want to learn about God from any book other than the one He wrote?

James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

1 Corinthians 1:20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

Romans 1:21-25 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

1 Corinthians 9:18 What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.

I’m not saying that you shouldn’t read anything else, simply do not take it as truth unless it agrees with God’s word. By that I don’t mean if the author/scholar/expert brings to the page one or two little scriptures that make his/her statement sound like truth. Take everything God said about the subject at hand and compare it. Even the ones that might oppose the author’s idea. I have found learning the bible so much easier this way. Read God’s word first before you go out and try to learn from another. Let God speak all He needs to about the subject. Let Him have the floor and don’t interrupt Him with some other author’s vain speech. Read the bible like you don’t know anything and you will be amazed at what you relearn. God will only teach those who want to be taught. If you think you know it all, what then is left for God to teach you? It is impossible to teach someone who thinks they “know it all”. God won’t waste His time. You have to read the bible with a clean slate. I threw out everything I was ever taught or thought was truth before I was finally able to understand it. It really opened my eyes to the world around me and my relationship with God has grown stronger.

I still have a lot to learn but, I choose to learn from Him and not some man made inspired book or thesis. I don’t care what someone back in 1815 taught about their understanding of the bible. If it doesn’t agree with God’s word 100% in all scripture, it is trash. So, if you want to compare anything I have said on any subject matter, please don’t offend me by comparing it to some other author’s word. Compare what I have said or wrote to God’s word and then I will listen to your reasoning for agreeing or disagreeing with me. And maybe, just maybe, we will learn something from God, together.

Fyi, the King James version is quite different from earlier translations of the word, including William Tyndale’s and you can Google others if you feel inclined to do so. I used to have the same stance against NIV or other newer versions that (to me) dumbed down the poetry of the bible, but because we are actually already quite different from original wordings (its not like Noah or Jesus spoke English) I find it impossible to argue anymore.

As for the “extra” books in Catholic bibles… they came out first. If anything, aren’t you curious about what the original protestants didn’t think you needed to read?

    • I’m always curious because I want to know the truth and be taught what God wants me to know.

I have a 1611 scanned from the original pages. Do you know why I love that book above all? They started from scratch, from the original languages to make sure the KJV is pure rather than rewriting and editing previous works to serve only one denomination or set of beliefs.

Revelation 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.

Do you know why it has a Royal Patent? So that no one is allowed to change it’s wording as long as a monarch is on the throne. To keep it preserved.

Psalms 12:6-7 The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The “extra” books in religions are not biblical books. They are “club rules”. If you want to join their religion you have to adhere to their beliefs and follow their rules according to the “extra” books. In most cases those “extra” books override the bible. And I am not talking about the Apocrypha books. I’m talking about books like “The Book of Mormons” and the “Lutheran Cataclysm”. My 1611 contains the Apocrypha books.

      Concerning the NIV, consider reading……….

I refuse to learn from such a blasphemous book. There is a reason the newer translations are worded the way they are. It is NOT God’s word.
