In The Beginning

IN THE BEGINNING

This is a study about the beginning of our world and how we came to be here. I have included some science (in green) as a comparison to God’s word (in blue).

Genesis 1:1-5 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

God created the heaven and the earth. The earth and outer space did not exist in any form other than water. Like a huge, deep, calm ocean. There was total darkness except for the spirit of God. With only the words “Let there be light”, God created light. He separated the light from the darkness and called the light Day and the darkness He called Night. This was done in one single day. The evening and the morning. The first day. This is why the Jewish people start their day in the evening. It did not take God thousands of years to create all of this. He gives us a specific time frame. So, with this information we can learn that on the first day God created time.

Genesis 1:6-8 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

On the second day, God created a firmament and used it to divide the waters. Part of the waters will be used to create our earth. He called the firmament, Heaven. This firmament, or Heaven, divides earth from the other water which is above the firmament. This is the only day God does not call good. Because in this day it is known that we will be separated from Him. From this we learn that on the second day God created space.

This article was posted in September 2014. How old is the bible?? It knew planets were formed from water AND that it existed before the sun was created way, way, before this article ever came to be.

Genesis 1:9-13 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.

On the third day, God gathers the waters under the firmament together creating a huge ball of water and separates them into sea and atmosphere. He then has land appear, not lands. This land was all in one place. Science today calls this land mass Pangaea and the “Seas” surrounding it is called Panthalassa.

A new model of the early Earth suggests that until around 2.5 billion years ago oceans covered almost the whole of the planet. Just 2% to 3% of the Earth’s surface would have been dry land, compared with 28% today. The Earth at that time may have resembled the way it looked in Waterworld, the 1995 post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie starring Kevin Costner. ~ metro.co.uk

Although the role of water in the formation of planets and comets is not yet fully understood, a simplified description is that some of the ice remains unprocessed and ends up in comets, while some of the ice turns into vapor and is used to make planetary atmospheres and gaseous planets. ~ astrobio.net

Now we have learned that on the third day God formed & created earth, land, and then He made our trees & plants.

Genesis 1:14-19 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

On the fourth day, God created lights in the firmament, the divider of the waters. A great light, the sun, to rule the day and a lesser light, the moon, to rule the night. The moon is a lessor light because it does not give off it’s own light which makes it dimmer. He also made the stars on this day completing what we call outer space. These lights are for signs, seasons, days, and years. Basically on day four, God created the calendar. These signs are not meant to “read” the future. They are to discern the times. How close we are in the seasons, where we are during the day or the time of the year. They are also used as signs for the return of Christ. By watching what happens in the sky, according to what God’s word says will happen, we will know His return is close.

Genesis 1:20-23 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

On the fifth day, God created the sea/water creatures, whales, and birds. The water creatures were not just fish, it was all the creatures that live in water. You see that the birds fly in the open firmament of heaven. The bible actually speaks of three different heavens. One heaven is our sky where the birds fly, the second is outer space, and the third is where God’s throne sits. The third heaven is above the waters that are above the dividing firmament, or beyond outer space. In Revelation these waters appear as a sea of glass, possibly showing it to be ice.

And if you travel out far away from everything in the Universe, you can never get lower than a minimum of just 2.7 Kelvin or -270.45 Celsius (-454.81 Fahrenheit). ~ universetoday.com

Genesis 1:24-31 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

On the sixth day, God created animals, insects, creepy crawlies, and man. In this section you see that male and female are mentioned. However, woman was not created until later. Women are an extension of men so we are lumped into the “man” category. Therefore, when man was created, woman was already there without a form of their own. God created man in His own image. Notice it reads “our image, after our likeness”. A reference to the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit. Showing that Jesus was present in the beginning. You will also notice that plants and trees and all green herbs was the source of food for all creatures. Vegans and vegetarians would have loved this time period. Man was the ruler over everything. Every living being, man, animal, and plant, had one major job and that was to be fruitful and multiply. Which, coincidentally in humans, requires one male and one female.

Genesis 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

On the seventh day, God rested. He relaxed and watched over the earth He had made.

Genesis 2:4-6 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens, And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.

God created plants and trees on the third day. It didn’t rain until the flood because up until then the earth did not need cleansed. Instead God made a mist to water the earth in order for the seeds to grow into plants and trees. They grew very well because He is a master gardener. He had no need of man to help him. On day four He created the sun, thus creating photosynthesis.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

There is more than one world, ie: planets.

God created everything we see from things that are invisible.

Matter has mass and takes up space. Atoms are basic building blocks of matter, and cannot be chemically subdivided by ordinary means. The word atom is derived from the Greek word atom which means indivisible. The Greeks concluded that matter could be broken down into particles too small to be seen. John Dalton was the first person to suggest the idea of the atom as being the smallest particle or building block that created all other materials that is around us. He had come up with this idea in 1803.

Job 26:7-8 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing. He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

The northern empty place could be the Northern Supervoid.

The earth is not being held up by anything. The clouds are made up of water but do not break.

The history of cloud microphysics developed in the 19th century and is described in several publications. Otto von Guericke originated the idea that clouds were composed of water bubbles.

Job is the oldest book of the bible believed to have been written in the 1400s BC. And yet, it tells what clouds are made of and that the earth is not held up by the Greek Atlas, son of Titan.

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

A book written in the 1400s BC knew the earth had a line upon it. It was later called the Equator.

Isaiah 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Isaiah knew the earth was round. While this could mean a flat disc as it was believed in old times, the Hebrew word for circle also means “vault” or arch.

Matthew 24:40-41 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Luke17:34-36 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

This shows the earth’s time zones. Night in one area, day in another. And while I am at it, the verse about two men in one bed is not about homosexuals. The Greek word used was “kline”. A kline is a couch of sorts that resembles our chaise lounge chairs. It’s where the word “recliner” comes from. These two men are not sleeping together.

Amos 9:6 It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.

As you zoom out from earth you pass through different layers, or floors. Our atmosphere, the planets, the galaxies, and if you could keep going you would find the water above the firmament which is described as a sea of glass or ice, and above that is the throne of God. These are the stories in the heaven.

“he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth” What Amos is telling us about is the water cycle. Water is evaporated from the sea, goes up to form the clouds which then rains down on the earth. That’s the quick lesson.

Job 26:27-28 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.

The oldest human fossil was found in Ethiopia. Ethiopia would have been close to Eden, which I believe was around Jerusalem. Remember the world was one land mass. Even one of the rivers of Eden surrounded Ethiopia.

Genesis 10:25 And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.

Pangaea was a supercontinent that existed during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras. It formed approximately 300 million years ago and then began to break apart after about 100 million years. Unlike the present Earth, much of the land mass was in the southern hemisphere. Pangaea was the first reconstructed supercontinent and it was surrounded by a super ocean, known as Panthalassa. Genesis 7:18-20 And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters. And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits (22.5 ft) upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

Notice how the water only rose 22.5 ft. That would mean that land mountains at this time were not near as high as they are today.

Many of the major mountain ranges are created when the Earth’s tectonic plates crash together. Because of the tremendous energies involved, the sides of the plates crumple like cars in a head-on collision. The mountain ranges are created because of those crumpling plates. The Indian subcontinent “crashed” into Asia 25 million years ago and created the Himalayan mountain range. In fact, the Himalayans are still growing!
The next way that mountains are formed is along fault lines. Blocks of Earth are uplifted and tilted over as two plates grind together. The uplifted part forms a mountain, and the lowered parts are filled in with eroded material. An example of this is the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California. ~universetoday.com

Our mountains were not formed until the earth divided.

Continental Drift : The continents are still moving today. Underwater exploration has revealed seafloor spreading. Seafloor spreading is the process of new crust forming between two plates that are moving apart. Along a network of mountain ranges in the ocean, molten rock rises from within the Earth and adds new seafloor to the edges of the old. As the seafloor grows wider, the continents on opposite sides of the ridges move away from each other. ~ nationalgeographic.com

Job 38:16 Hast thou entered into the springs of the sea? or hast thou walked in the search of the depth?

In 1977, scientists discovered hot springs at a depth of 2.5 km, on the Galapagos Rift (spreading ridge) off the coast of Ecuador. This exciting discovery was not really a surprise. Since the early 1970s, scientists had predicted that hot springs (geothermal vents) should be found at the active spreading centers along the mid-oceanic ridges.. ~ pubs.usgs.gov

Science suggests this as one of the orders of life evolution.

Of course, humans did not evolve from fish but, at least, science is getting closer to figuring it out. Humans have many things in common with other species because we are from the same creator. All great artist use a certain technique that makes their work recognizable. If only science would read and believe the bible they would know the truth a little faster. Maybe then they won’t keep changing their minds. Every science website I visited had slight differences while they try to disprove the bible. All the while they are slowly proving it right. Should we tell them? Maybe then they will get the dates more accurate.

If the bible is a mere 2000 year old book of made up stories, how is it that it knew things about our earth before science did? Sure, the bible was completed in the first century and later in 1611 the King James was translated which some could say contains made up stories or even some proven science of the time. Even though most of these discoveries were after 1611. One “weapon” that science likes to use against the bible is………carbon dating. If science chooses to believe carbon dating for their reasoning of the billions of years they claim than they are forced to believe the carbon dates of when the bible texts were written. Which proves the bible contained the science facts first.
