Garden of Eden

Genesis 2:7-8 And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

God formed man from the dirt of the earth, then breathed a soul into him through his nostrils. This is where man is two forms. A body and soul. Our body is just a temporary housing unit for our soul while we live on this earth. The body will die and return to the dirt from whence it came and the soul, the part of who we really are, goes on to a new destination after death. That destination is determined by how we live our lives in these bodies. That’s all in another study though. Moving on……………..

God made a garden for man to live in. It was beautiful and had everything man needed.

Genesis 2:9-15 And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Eden and the garden are two distinct areas. Eden was the land and the garden was an area of the land. The garden of Eden was a paradise. Keep in mind that the earth didn’t look the same as present day maps because it was all one continent but, looking on a map we can find the Euphrates river and go from there with the knowledge we hold today of the area. A river went through Eden to provide water for the garden. From this river it branched into four other rivers.

The first was the Pison, which today is known as the Kishon river. Most of the Pison was swallowed by the Mediterranean Sea during the continental drift, either/or the flood, but there is still a remnant that remains.

The Kishon River is a river in Israel that flows into the Mediterranean Sea near the city of Haifa. It is considered the most polluted river in Israel. ~ wikipedia

In Judges 5:21 it is called “that ancient river, the river Kishon” Now the Kishon river actually flows INTO the Mediterranean Sea today but what I have learned about river flow is that it all depends on the geography of the area as to which direction a river flows so, it will not always be north to south. I would say that before the plate movements the geography of that area was different.

The Pison river went through the land of Havilah where gold is good and onyx and bdellium is present.

For many years until 2006, South Africa was the world’s dominant gold producer, but recently, other countries with large surface area have surpassed South Africa, including China, Russia, the United States, Peru and Australia. ~ wikipedia

South Africa was the leading gold producer. Now it ranks #6. None of these six include Saudi Arabia as some claim to be the land of Havilah and that the dried up Wadi Bisha was the Pison river which they say met with the Euphrates and Tigris.

Onyx is a gemstone found in various regions of the world including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Germany, India, Madagascar, the UK, and various states in the US. Onyx is formed in the vesicles of lava. ~ wikipedia

Bdellium, also bdellion, is a semi-transparent oleo-gum resin extracted from Commiphora wightii and from Commiphora africana trees growing in Ethiopia, Erythrea and sub-saharan Africa. ~ wikipedia

With this information we can trace the Pison river. From the head it went down through present day Isreal and went through Africa. After the earth shift or possibly after the flood, it broke up and most of the upper portion merged with the river that ran through the garden to became the Mediterranean Sea while the lower portion became the Nile river, Lake Nassar, the White Nile, Lake Albert, Lake Tanganyiki, and so on . Interestingly enough, the Nile flows toward the Mediterranean Sea just like the Kishon.

The second river is the Gihon. This river went around Ethiopia. The Gihon is also mentioned in 1 Kings 1, where Solomon was anointed king in Gihon, and 2 Chronicles 32-33. In 2 Chronicles 32:30 it says that Hezekiah stopped the upper watercourse of the Gihon and brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. He placed a dam to run water west of the city. This indicates that in Eden the Gihon was actually what became the Jordan river which included the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, and the Red Sea. There is still remnant of the Gihon river southeast of Jerusalem called the Gihon Spring. In the last 20 years, archaeological digs have uncovered more information about this spring. There are tunnels that connect these waters to the City of David one dating back to Hezekiah.

The city government of Jerusalem has proposed to restore the valley floor by removing Palestinian homes in the East Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan and replacing them with a park called the Garden of the King through which the waters of Gihon could flow south along their ancient course. ~ wikipedia

The third river is the Hiddekel. This river went toward the east of Assyria (northern Iraq and southern Turkey). The Hiddekel river is today’s Tigris river. The Hiddekel is also mentioned in Daniel 10:4 “And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel; “ Daniel states this river is great and it was obviously in the Persian Empire which matches the Tigris river well. The Accadians called it id Idikla; i.e., “the river of Idikla”.

The forth river is the Euphrates which travels from Turkey to the Persian Gulf where it meets the Tigris. In the end of times the river Euphrates will dry up to give way for an army. Revelation speaks about fallen angels that are bound in the Euphrates that will be loosed.

Some claim that the Garden was at the northern part of the Persian Gulf, or perhaps, under the gulf. Stating that all four rivers met with the Euphrates and Tigris. This theory doesn’t mention Hezekiah and his dam. Since Hezekiah stopped the upper watercourse so it could flow west of the City of David, that would place the Gihon head further north. For those of you who believe that the Kuran river in Iran is the Gihon river of Eden, please explain how it encompasses Ethiopia. And, explain how these river heads are at the north of the Persian Gulf when they flow into the gulf. The Persian Gulf is at the mouth of the Euphrates not the head. The head of the river is the beginning of the river. The Euphrates and the Tigris begin in Turkey. Since all four of these river heads start at the same place according to the bible, it is only logical that they all start in Turkey not at the Persian Gulf. Satan is trying to use the ‘ole bait and switch on people. He is claiming a false Eden for Ishmael all the while he is using Ishmael to try and take claim of the real Eden.

garden of eden

People have been trying to find the location of the Garden of Eden for centuries. If they just read the bible they would see that God tells us the location of the garden.

Ezekiel 31:8-9 The cedars in the garden of God could not hide him: the fir trees were not like his boughs, and the chestnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the garden of God was like unto him in his beauty. I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of Eden, that were in the garden of God, envied him.

Ezekiel 31:16 I made the nations to shake at the sound of his fall, when I cast him down to hell with them that descend into the pit: and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, shall be comforted in the nether parts of the earth.

Ezekiel 31:18 To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of Eden unto the nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord God.

The Garden of Eden was brought down to the nether parts of the earth, hell. From what I have learned, the Garden of Eden is lost way beneath the earth. It went under the Mediterranean Sea which, by the way, is full of underwater volcanoes that possibly buried it. Before the earth divided, the Mediterranean Sea was land except for a river that ran through it. Either during the flood or during the continental drift, this land area went under water. The Garden went down along with most of Eden.

The bible states that Israel will be like the Garden of Eden.

Ezekiel 36:35 And they shall say, This land that was desolate is become like the garden of Eden; and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are become fenced, and are inhabited.

Isaiah 51:3 For the Lord shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.

The 12 tribes of Israel inherited the remaining land of Eden. This is the area were Adam and Eve lived after being exiled from the Garden and this is the land Cain was banished from. While the garden is long gone there is still a paradise that awaits us and the Tree of Life will reappear in the new Eden when Christ returns.

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Revelation 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

The Tree of Life from the Garden of Eden is still being guarded and there is no access to it. God doesn’t want you living forever in this cursed flesh to witness pain and suffering for eternity. That “tree of life” in Bahrain near the Persian Gulf where many claim is the original place of the garden, is NOT the real tree of life. Currently, the only Tree of Life available to us is Jesus Christ.

Question? Was Eden a person, place, or thing?
A preacher stated to his congregation that Eden was a person, a man.
This confuses me. Why are there so many interpretations of scriptures? Please let’s pray concerning the garden of Eden!
God does not want his people to be confused this way, every wind and doctrine.
While I am a messenger of God, it bothers me to see this taking place.

Planted a garden eastward IN Eden.

Sounds like a place to me. Stop listening to that preacher and read a King James Bible.

I understand the concept that the River Euphrates today is located in the middle east today, but here is something to think about.
    1) The flood was a global and cataclysmic event that reshaped the surface of the earth. The world we see today is not as it was pre-flood in terms of the rivers and mountain ranges and canyons etc. During the flood sediments deposited everywhere and this is seen with the fossils clearly buried rapidly. So if what we see today is laid down by the flood, the river running through it could not be the river Euphrates from before the flood
    2) Noah knew the River Euphrates, and the life that sprung forth from it. The Euphrates gives life to the area over there, so it would seem logical that Noah or his descendants would have named it after the famed river of their history.
    3) If it was called the garden of Texas, would one be able to say that it was over in the United States because there is a place called Texas there today, or in Queensland Australia where there is a town called Texas today?
Bearing the name of something, does not make it the same, it is how there are cities around the world called Alexandria. They are named after Alexander the Great, but clearly NOT Alexander the Great.
    God bless

Yes it makes sense to use the pre flood map of the world before the flood caused the continental
drift. The area of Cush is NE Africa is a clue along with the Persian/ Assyrian rivers. The other river is more of a mystery. [Perhaps because that region is loaded with Gold].
