Marriage & Divorce

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

1 Corinthians 7
1 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman.
2 Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.

To avoid the sin of fornication you are to be married. If you are not married you need to be abstinent.

3 Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.

You are to give kindness and respect to your spouse.

4 The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.
5 Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

As a husband or a wife we are not to deny sexual pleasure from our spouse except when abstinence during time of fasting and prayer is a mutual agreement. Continue reading

Faith vs. Works

This is an argument I have never understood. It’s quite plain to see in scripture the importance of both. Let’s read:

James 2:17-26
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Continue reading

Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Before I understood the bible I often wondered why Jesus would say this just before He died on the cross. If He was God why would He ask why God forsook Him? Did He foresake Himself? How odd. But Jesus spoke in a way that many did not understand. Even His parables were meant to be understood by the ones who follow Him. Those that seek to know truth. Jesus said this in a way that God’s people would truly know who He was and what they did.

Jesus quoted the first words of a prophecy written about Him hundreds of years before so that the Jews would know the truth. Sadly, not all of them understood and still do not today.

Psalm 22

1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? Continue reading

Keeping the Commandments

Are you following the Commandments of God?

God said:

Exodus 20:3-17
1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Money, self, friends, family, rock stars, movie stars, movies, concerts, statues, images, places, objects, keepsakes, ornaments, holidays, job, vehicle. Nothing should come before God, learning about God, talking to God. Do not get so caught up in this world that you forget God. I had a friend ask me how I have time to study the bible so much with a job, a husband, a mini farm, and three boys, plus all the extra stuff we do. I simply told her, I make time. She said she didn’t have time because of all the time she is expected to spend with family and friends. I tell her, her family and friends have become her God. She, naturally, got offended. But it is truth. She is putting time with them before time with God.

2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Statues for worship, whether Jesus, Mary, saints, angels, demons, devils, etc. Any likeness of these things like tattoos, art, clothing graphics, jewels, etc. This is not only saying do not worship these, it says do not even make them. Continue reading

Once Saved, Always Saved?

For those who believe and teach this I have but one word for you:

Apostasy

Greek word apostasia meaning the abandonment of one’s religion

In order to abandon or fall from the faith you must first have it.

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away [Apostasy] first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

1 Timothy 4:1 In the latter times some shall depart from the faith [Apostasy], giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. Continue reading
